Français : Fontaine aux éléphants de Chambéry, Savoie.
Dûe au sculpteur grenoblois Pierre-Victor Sappey et achevée en 1838 suite à souscription municipale le monument, qui peut être décomposé en 3 parties, est un hommage de la ville à un enfant du pays, le Gal de Boigne (1751-1830), suite à ses combats victorieux menés dans un empire des Indes. - la base est constituée de 4 têtes d’éléphants crachant l’eau par la trompe dans un bassin octogonal, surmontées de sculptures d’armes de ces contrées lointaines. Leur disposition a inspiré aux chambériens le malicieux surnom des Quatre sans cul ! - une colonne en tronc de palmier pour l'exotisme; - la statue du héros local, haute de 3 m. L’ensemble en mesure 17,6 et, vu de dessus, évoque une croix... allusion évidente à la croix de Savoie, emblème de l’ancien duché. |
