Description
Nederlands: Groenewoud & Buij, 1998: Fons et Origo (Bron en oorsprong)
Geplaatst in het kader van het kunstproject "Verborgen verleden" n.a.v. de herinrichting van de Dokkumer binnenstad. Het kunstwerk bestaat uit 16 bronzen boeken die, willekeurig over de terp verspreid, ter aarde geworpen zijn. De boeken zijn gevormd naar replica's van boeken uit de tijd van Bonifatius (in 754 bij Dokkum vermoord) en zijn op ware grootte: 7 folianten, 5 middelgrote boeken en 4 brevieren. Ze verbeelden het dramatische moment waarop de moordenaars - op zoek naar goud en zilver - de werkelijke schat van Bonifatius, zijn bibliotheek, die hij overal met zich mee nam, aantreffen en teleurgesteld de kostbare boeken van zich af werpen. Daarnaast is de terp in zijn geheel beplant met de bodembedekker 'Erdblut' (Sedum Spurium), een plant die in de loop van het jaar van groen naar diep rood verkleurt. De boeken zweven als het ware net boven dit ca.10 cm hoge plantje, dat de sfeer van kwelders, begroeiing op de rand van zoet en zout water oproept.
