Fomitopsis spraguei (Berk. & M.A. Curtis) Gilb. & Ryvarden Location: Goldsboro York Co.Pennsylvania U.S.A. Observation Notes: This is a light pink to light tan colored fungi with the lower portion more white in color found growing on a dead tree stump probably some sort of decaying conifer. I found it growing on a north facing well shaded forest mixed with various hard woods, ferns,conifers and moss ajacent to the area where it was growing. It’s appearance is that of cottage cheese for lack of a more scientific description. It was firm in texture, well attached to the rotting tree stump. Kate Image Notes: Light pink to light tan with the lower portion white in color. Growing on decaying wood.
