English: "Madame de Maintenon.

In its imposing and beautiful wooden frame, work of the south of France of the seventeenth. (slight lack see photos). Of great quality this portrait is to be compared with the painting of Pierre Mignard present in the collection of the Palace of Versailles (see photo).

Just as in the composition of Mignard’s painting, in order to underline her piety, Madame de Maintenon is represented with the Virgin’s clothes, which recalls the painter’s famous “Mignardes”." [1]
