Description
Fan with a double painted silk leaf. The narrow, widely spaced sticks are carved, inlaid with silver and decorated with piqu?The guards are also carved and decorated with silver inlay. The top part of the guards are backed with mother of pearl and carved with a medallion containing a putti. The rivet is metal. The front of the leaf is painted with three medallions surrounded by sequins. The central medallion depicts a young couple sacrificing a dove at an altar. The other two medallions are either side, one containing the lady, the other the man. The reserve is painted to resemble wallpaper and decorated with sequins. The reverse has a white background with three medallions containing flowers. Possibly a marriage fan.
