Summary
[edit]DescriptionFoamfixer2.jpg | "Foamfixer" pump used to apply silicone foam firestop materials. Parts "A" and "B" are poured into separate tanks, one on the left and one on the right. The machine then pumps each component through separate high-pressure hoses to the tip, where both parts are continuously mixed and then pumped into the opening. Forming must be very tight to prevent leakage of the freshly mixed liquid, as it has a syrup consistency. Unlike with noncombustible firestop mortars, the forming is an integral part of each system, subject to stringent bounding. Absence of bounded form boards and fibres voids the rating of the seal. Visible silicone foam typically indicates a non-compliant firestop, with very few exceptions only for small openings. The mixing unit must be cleaned routinely and thoroughly to prevent back-ups. |
