Floyd, who operated the company until mid 1861, when Charles W. Mappa took over. This stamp appears to be a possible forgery. The Scott Specialized Catalogue of US Stamps lists three 1c stamps from this company: #68L1 (blue), #68L2 (brown), and #68L3 (green). The orange color of this stamp does not match any of these, and the engraving seems to slightly different from the example shown in the catalog. | |||||
