Description 1860 Local Floyd's Penny Post US postage stamp, imperforate. Floyd's Penny Post was established in Chicago, in early 1860, by John R. Floyd, who operated the company until mid 1861, when Charles W. Mappa took over. This stamp appears to be a possible forgery. The Scott Specialized Catalogue of US Stamps lists three 1c stamps from this company: #68L1 (blue), #68L2 (brown), and #68L3 (green). The orange color of this stamp does not match any of these, and the engraving seems to slightly different from the example shown in the catalog.
