22 The Good & Eeese Company, Florists and Seedsmen, You canH get better red Roses anywhere than the six beauties offered on this ~page. THE METEOR COLLECTION OF Velvety=Crimson Roses DOCTOR REYMONT. This fine, hardy, ever-blooming sort was obtained by crossing the well-known General Jacqueminot and the Rose Polyantha, or Multiflora. With such good parentage, it is needless to say that the progeny is excellent. It inherits the hardiness and splendid crimson colored flowers of the General Jacqueminot, which are but little reduced in size, with the profuse blooming qualities of the Polyantha class, thus combining the two qual- ities most desired in a garden Rose. Bear in mind that this Rose is entirely hardy, ever-blooming and delightfully fragrant. 15 cents each; large two-year-old plants, 40 cts. each. AUGUSTINE HALEM. In this Rose we have a beauty indeed, for it fairly rivals the well-known American Beauty in the size and color of its flowers. It has well-developed buds, having good, thick, waxy-like petals of excellent substance. Color clear, bright, rosy red, verging to deep, rich crimson. With these changes it adds the delightful fragrance of the old June Roses. Taken altogether, we are much pleased with this beautiful variety. It is very free flowering. Offered for the first time in 1897. 15 cents each; large two-year-old plants, 50 cents each. PRINCESS SAGAN. The flowers of this variety are the rich- est crimson of any Rose in our vast col- lection. A single bud or blossom will catch the eye at a great distance, so bril- liant is the color. Indeed, it is un- matched in its velvety richness; could well be termed "The Velvet Rose." It is as free in blooming as Bon Silene. One of our customers in California writes that she is kept busy by people asking what Rose this is. 15 cents each; large two-year-old plants, 40 cents each. MARION DINGEE. Marion Dingee promises to be of ex traordinary value. It is a strong, vigor- ous grower, making a handsome, grace- ful bush, with large, thick, deep green leaves. The flowers are large, beautifully cup shaped, moderately full, and borne in wonderful profusion all through the growing season. In fact, we scarcely know of any other Rose that will produce so many perfect flowers in a given time, and whether in open ground or under glass it is a most constant and profuse "bloomer. The flowers are borne nearly upright, on long, straight stems, and are of excellent substance, having thick, leathery petals, holding their form and color a long time. The color is, perhaps, the most remarkable feature. It is a deep, brilliant crimson, one of the dark- est, if not the very darkest and richest colored Tea Rose in existence, and we have no hesitancy in asserting our belief that it is the finest crimson Tea Rose now known. 15 cents each; large two- year-old plants, 50 cents each. SOUVENIR OF WOOTTON, An American variety of great promise, with the following good qualities; (1) Color velvety red, equal to Jacqueminot. (2) Perfume which can not be excelled. (3) Continuous flowering qualities. (1) The most prolific bloomer in existence, every shoot containing a flower bud. (o) Habit exceedingly vigorous, and in foliage quite equal to American Beauty. (6) It never makes imperfect buds, and dark weather deepens the color, giving it a richer shade of crimson. (7) Itisafull, double Rose, and is good in bud, half open, or fully expanded. Full,open flowers, frequently six inches in diameter. This superb Rose is unquestionably one of the finest varieties ever introduced for either Summer or Winter blooming. We Fhave tried this for hardiness in the open ground, and find it will live out all Winter south of the Ohio River. It is one of the most satisfactory Roses for the amateur to grow. 15 cents each; large two-year- old plants, 50 cents each. METEOR. A velvety red ever-bloomer of the. deepest glowing crimson, as fine as a hybrid. Flowers of medium size, very double and slightly recurving. A beau- tiful open Rose, a free bloomer and a very excellent pot Rose. It has no tinge of violet or purple to mar its beauty. It is a vigorous, bushy grower, with healthy, bright foliage of the deepest green. The best rich red Rose for the garden ever introduced. Our correspondents from California say that the flower of the Meteor equals General Jacqueminot, and will produce fifty flowers to Jacqueminot's one. This is unquestionably the best dark velvety red Rose yet produced. Grand, both in bud and in'flower. It has t)ur highest commendation. 15 cents each; large two-year-old plants, 40 cents each.
