±1 • Awarded the Gold Medal and Six First- Class Certificates in England. This magnificent new white Hybrid Perpetual Rose was raised and sent out by Messrs. Alexander Dick- son & Sons, of Belfast, Ire- land. It is unquestionably the greatest acquisition made in Roses for the past ten years. Some idea of its beauty and worth can be formed from the fact that wherever it has been exhib- ited in Great Britain it has carried off the first honors, receiving in one year the eold medal of the National Rose Society of New Eng- land and six first-class certi- ficates. No other Rose has ever received so many certi- ficates of merit in a single year, and while it has never been tested in America, we have no hesitancy in saying it is the best white Hybrid Perpetual for planting in the gar- den. The color is whiie, with pale flesh center, petals very large, she 11- chaped, and of im- mense substance. The flowers are of • magnificent form, produced ly on long, stiff stems and very double, and have the true Magno- lia fragrance. The habit of growth is vigorous, with large, luxuriant foliage. 20 cents each; large two - year - old plants, 50 cents each. MERVILLE DE LYON. A splendid new Hybrid Perpet- ual of the highest tvpe of beauty. The flowers are extra large, fine, and cupped form, full and regular liciously perfumed. Color a pure'untinted ivory white. Very beautiful. 15 cts. each; large two-year-old plants, 50c each. MRS. SHARMAN CRAWFORD. Deep rosy pink, outer petals pale flesh, base of petals white. Received gold medal of the

Roger Lambelin. See description o?z page 34. National Rose Society. Flowers large, perfect form. A new col- or m this section. One of the most promising new Roses. 15 cents each; large two-year- old plants, 50 cents each. MADAME GABRIEL LUIZET. This is undoubtedlv one of most beautiful of all Roses. It is elegantly formed, very full and double, and the color is a very distinct and handsome shade of clear coral rose, beau- tifully suffused with lavender and pearl. Delightfully fra- grant, a good bloomer, and en- tirely hardy. 15 cents each; large two-year-old plants, 40 cents each. MADAME MASSON. An excellent Hybrid Perpet- ual, noted for its constant and profuse bloom. The flowers are large, color a clear, bright rose, highly perfumed. One of the best for planting. This Rose is a very superb variety, and should be more general 1 v known. You should try it. "* » cents each; large two-year- old plants, 40 cents each.j MADAME JOSEPH " DESBOIS. A most vigorous grower and persistent bloomer. The flowers are very large and double, on long, stiff stems, of fine, waxy texture and substance, and last a long time in a fresh state after being cut. The color is a pure snow wnite. This we recom- mend as being a very desirable sort. We had buds on this Rose four inches through. A veritable beauty. This, no doubt, is the very best white hardy Rose in existence. It is difficult to propagate, and for this reason will always be scarce and high priced, but it grows well after once being rooted. 20 cents each; large two - year - old plants, 60 cents each. MRS. JOHN LAING. An elegant, new, constant- blooming, Hybrid Perpetual Rose. One of the very finest in its class. Color a clear, bright shell pink, exquisitelv shaded. The buds arelongand pointed, the flowers extra large and full, borne on long stems, and exceedingly sweet. Valuable, both for open ground and greenhouse culture. A most exquisite Rose. 15 cents each; large two- year - old plants, 40 cents each. MARCHIONESS OF LONDON- DERRY. This is a magnifi- cent Rose, and un- doubtedly one of the finest yet raised. It is certain to take a very high place in the Rose world. The flowers are of great size, perfectly formed, and carried on very stout, erect foot - stalks. Color ivory white, petals of great substance, shell-shaped and reflexed, highly per- fumed and free-flowering. A most valua- ble addition to the white color section. The growth is vigorous, and foliage very fine, we may say mildew-proof. First prize as best seedling Rose. Also the Premier prize and gold medal of the National Rose SociPty at Crystal Palace, Lonoon. 30 cents each; large two - rear - old plants, 50 cents each.
