The Queen of Roses, American Beauty. This Rose has become as famous as the Marechal Niel. The flowers of this grand Rose are so eagerly sought that they sell in the flower stores of the larger cities during the holiday season at the extravagant price of from $1.50 to $2.00 for a single bud or flower. Indeed, the market is never fully supplied with them, even at this high price. Why is this? There must be a reason. It is because of its large size, rich color and delicious fragrance. One of its chief attractions is its elegant foliage (see illustration from pho- tograph, which will show you what long, stiff stems and heavy foliage it can be cut with). It is a hardy Rose, of the largest size, having the ever-blooming qualities of the Tea Rose, with the delicious odor of the Damask, or Moss Rose. It is the sweetest of all Roses. In color it is a deep, brilliant red, shading to a rich carmine-crimson. It is en- tirely hardy, and is a valuable Rose for the garden or in- door culture, flowering freely during the Winter. American Beauty is like Marechal Nielâdifficult to start from small plants; therefore, we advise our customers to buy strong plants of it. This Rose will never be sold cheaply, for the reason it is hard to propagate. It can only be rooted with success during Winter. Our small plants are strong and thrifty. Price, 25 cents each; fine, large two-year-old plants, 50 cents each. The Beautiful New Hybrid Tea Rose, FERDINAND JAMIN. A strong, vigorous grower and free bloomer of the Hy- brid Tea class. Flowers large, full and globular. Color rosy-carmine, shaded with salmon. The center of the rose is light, while the color graduates and deepens to their very tips, resembling a halo of glory. Price, 15 cents; large two-year-old plants, 40 cents. The Beautiful N ew Hybrid Tea Rose, President Carnot. It is a Rose of the largest size, beautiful both in bud and open flower. The buds come on long, stiff stems, in clus- ters of from six to twelve. Each individual flower stands out distinct on its stem. No crowding as in the case of so many roses that bloom in clusters. The color is distinct and novel, a lovely fawn, shading to pearl. It often meas- ures five to six inches in diameter. We have no hesitancy in saying that this charming Rose will become as popular as La France, as it has all the good qualities of that Rose, and at the same time is distinct in every feature. It is so handsome and distinct that it attracts immediate atten- tion. It is, indeed, a wonderful Rose, one that everybody can grow and bloom. Price, fine young strong plants, 15 cents; fine two-year-old plants, 40 cents. The Superb New Tea Rose, ANTOINE RIVOIRE. (Pernet-Ducher.) A handsome new Rose of vigorous habit of growth, with large, full, Camellia-shaped flowers. Color rosy flesh on a yellow ground, shaded with a border of carmine. Flowers have been exhibited five inches in diameter. A remarkable variety of great worth. Price, 15 cents each; large two-year-old plants, 40 cents.
