Summary
[edit]DescriptionFlooded land by River Spey from Speyside Way - geograph.org.uk - 302816.jpg |
English: Flooded land by River Spey from Speyside Way The River Spey (flowing from left to right in the distance) often floods these low lying fields, particularly in winter. Allowing rivers access to floodplains such as this helps to slow the progress of water downstream, so helping to reduce damaging floods elsewhere. The flooded land is also valuable to wading birds.
The photograph was taken from the Speyside Way footpath, which here follows a disused railway line. The fencing in the foreground surrounds a culvert under the old line. |
