English: Flood damage at Houghall Farm Following 24 hours heavy rain on 17th/18th July 2009 much of the land around Houghall Farm became flooded. Eventually some of the water found its way through the two feet layer of topsoil to the sand and gravel below, creating this 14feet chasm and flowing into the River Wear to the left of the photograph. At the time of the picture a TV crew was recording a news item. |
