City of Calgary engineers and soldiers of The Calgary Highlanders on the banks of the Bow River during the flood of 2013.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: City of Calgary engineers and soldiers of The Calgary Highlanders in Inglewood community, Calgary, during the 2013 Alberta flood. The Bow River, running higher and faster than normal, has torn away hundreds of cubic metres of riverbank, to the edge of 8th Avenue SE, threatening to tear away the road and the foundations of houses on the 2100 and 2200 blocks. The engineers and soldiers mitigated this danger by placing sandbags and Jersey barriers in the river, calming the flow.
