Kampong Phluk
Description

Location: Kampong Phuluk, Tonlé Sap, Cambodia

Tonlé Sap is the largest freshwater lake in South East Asia. The lake's size changes dramatically with seasons, as the water flow pulses/switches directions with Mekong. Its floodplain provides a great breeding ground for fish.

Tonlé Sap one of the most productive inland fisheries in the world. Three million people depend on it. The lake provides over 75% of Cambodia's annual inland fish catch, and most of Cambodians' protein intake.

People live on floating villages. The house are raised. In summer the water level is mere 3 feet, in rainy reason it rises dramatically as water flow reverses direction.
