Title
Flint debitage
Description
English: Microblade or possibly waste flake. The tertiary blade was struck from a prepared platform and has a bulb of percussion and percussion waves on the ventral face. The dorsal face shows evidence of multiple previous removals and some mis-strikes at the proximal end. The long thin shape ending in a point and sharp edges would have made this piece sutiable for use as a piercer or borer without reworking. There is a small chip two thirds of the way along the left edge of the dorsal face but this could be deliberate, usewear or post deposition damage. It is 30.6mm long, 5.5mm wide and 2.8mm thick; it weighs 0.58 grams. The flint is dark brown in colour with light beige mottling. Other material in the vicinity includes more microliths as well as small cores, small blades and flakes, some reworked into tools. In general the collection of material suggests a Mesolithic date (8300-3500 BC).
