Title
Flint Scraper
Description
English: A flint scraper dating from the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze age, 3300-1000BC. The flint is a light red brown colour, and is slightly transparent near the edges. The flint is D shaped, and sub triangular in cross section. On the ventral face there is a slight bulb of percussion, suggesting the use of a soft hammer. The striking platform/proximal end is damaged and broken. There are rings radiating out from the proximal end. The dorsal face has conchoidal ripple marks. Retouching has been done on the ventral face to create the scrapper, the extent of which is invasive, scaled and semi abrupt. The flint measures 36.5 in length, 43.7 in width, 13.2mm in thickness and 24.83g in weight.
