[edit]DescriptionFlight Engineer's station, RAF Nimrod (45215851415).jpg |
XV254 at the Highland Aviation Museum, Inverness. The Nimrod Maritime Patrol Aircraft was operated by the RAF from 1969 until 2011 and was considered one of the very best aircraft in that role. In later years it also excelled in intercepting drug running ships and overland supporting ground forces using it's array of sensors and cameras (Signals intelligence - SIGINT) Based on the 1950's era de Havilland Comet but highly modified it retained the Flight Engineer crew member to monitor and operate several of the systems of the aircraft. Photo Note:- I used a small aperture (f18) a wide angle lens and flash to get as much depth of field as possible - necessary when taking a shot in such a confined space that has a lot of detail. |
