Formation: Shuksan Greenschist Rocktype: Greenschist / Blueschist (metamorphosed from oceanic rocks) Found: Mount Shuksan and west of Marblemount Greenschist These rocks began to form as ocean floor volcanic rocks were forced under the continent. There, intense pressure at relatively low temperatures caused the green and blue minerals to form. Later, Shuksan Greenschists were thrust up and over younger volcanic and sedimentary rocks as the North Cascade terranes were faulted and compressed.
