SAN DIEGO (June 6, 2012) Cmdr. Erik Nilsson, commanding officer of Beachmaster Unit (BMU) 1 presents retired Hospital Apprentice 1st Class Frank H. Walden after presenting him with a Bronze Star. Walden, from Walnut Creek, Calif., was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions during D-Day at a change of command for BMU 1 at Naval Base Coronado on the 68th anniversary of the largest amphibious assault in naval history.
