NEW YORK (Nov. 4, 2012) Enginemen 2nd Class Phillip Smith and Jerrad Christopher, assigned to the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Antonio (LPD 17) position a P-100 dewatering pump inside the basement of Beach 41st Street housing in Rockaway Beach. San Antonio has been tasked with dewatering buildings that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The U.S. Navy has positioned forces in the area to assist U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) in support of FEMA and local civil authorities following the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy.(U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Terah L.
