| Description | SOUTH CHINA SEA (Oct. 15, 2012) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) Airman Darrell Usry gives the clear for launch signal to the pilot of an AV-8B Harrier jet aircraft assigned to Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 542 during flight operations aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6). Bonhomme Richard is participating in Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX). PHIBLEX is an annual bilateral exercise with the Armed Forces of the Philippines designed to improve interoperability, increase readiness and develop professional and personal relationships between United States and Philippine forces.The U.S. Navy is constantly deployed to preserve peace, protect commerce, and deter aggression through forward presence.
