SAN DIEGO (Aug. 29, 2012) An opposing force vessel explodes after being engaged by Naval Base San Diego Harbor Security during a simulated small boat attack of of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Spruance (DDG 111) and USS Sterett (DDG 104). The event was one of three major training scenarios held at Naval Base San Diego during Citadel Protect 2012. This tactical exercise is designed to test and assess Navy capability to protect ships from various potential threats in U.S. Naval ports.
