[edit]DescriptionFlickr - Israel Defense Forces - Free Gaza Flotilla Participant Accepts Food From IDF Soldier.jpg |
July 19, 2011 Following the Israel Navy's interception of the Free Gaza Movement's Al-Karama ship which sought to break the naval blockade surrounding the Gaza Strip, Navy soldiers hand out food and water to the passengers aboard the ship. In accordance with government directives, after all diplomatic channels had been exhausted and continuous calls to the vessel had been ignored, and upon expressing their unwillingness to arrive at the Ashdod port, IDF Navy soldiers boarded the Al-Karama in an effort to stop it from breaking the maritime security blockade on the Gaza Strip. The soldiers operated in line with procedures and took every precaution necessary while ensuring the safety of the soldiers. Following the boarding, the passengers’ health was examined and they were offered food and beverages. |
