| Description |
December 5, 2010. Several ceremonies marking the departure of some of the international fire fighting teams took place throughout the day in the Nevatim and Ramat-David IAF bases. Similar events are to take place tomorrow in the Haifa and Tel-Nof IAF bases. 192 crewmen received an IAF medal and all of the delegations received a special honorary greeting from the commander of the IAF stating that : "You have earned this honor for putting out the deadly fire in the Carmel. You have shown responsibility, determination, camaraderie and courage." Commander of the Ramat-David IAF base stated that : "The cooperation was excellent, reaching across barriers of language and culture. You were all focused on the mission of saving lives and saving the landscape in the Carmel." Commander of the Nevatim IAF base commented that: "Real friends are measured in times of need. Israel was met by a disaster, but you were there to prove your true friendship. We felt this throughout all the days we fought the blaze. Myself, the IAF and The State of Israel wish to thank you and show our respects to you." אירועי פרידה והוקרה לצוותי מטוסי הכיבוי אשר הגיעו מעשר מדינות בעולם, מתקיימים הערב ומחר בבסיסי חיל האוויר. בסיסי חיל האוויר נבטים ורמת דוד קיימו את האירוע הערב; ומחר יתקיימו אירועים דומים בבסיס חיל האוויר בחיפה ובבסיס תל נוף. ל-192 אנשי צוות מטוסי-הכיבוי הוענקה מדליה של חיל האוויר הישראלי; לכל אחת מהמשלחות (יוון, טורקיה, רוסיה, בריטניה, קפריסין, שוויץ, ספרד, אז'רביג'אן, צרפת, קרואטיה) הוענקה תעודת הוקרה מיוחדת ממפקד חיל האוויר, בה כתוב בעברית ולכל משלחת בשפתה: "תעודת ההוקרה מוענקת על סיוע אווירי בכיבוי שריפת הענק בהר הכרמל במדינת ישראל. בסיוע זה הפגנתם אחריות, דביקות במשימה, רעות, מקצועיות, שותפות, ואומץ לב. על החתום: אלוף עידו נחושתן, מפקד חיל האוויר הישראלי". מפקד בסיס רמת דוד אמר: "שיתוף הפעולה היה מעולה. שותפות חוצת-גבולות חוצה שפות ותרבויות. כולם ממוקדים למשימה אחת- הצלת חיים והצלת הטבע בכרמל". מפקד בסיס נבטים אמר: "אצלנו אומרים שחברים נמדדים בעת צרה. מדינת ישראל נקלעה לצרה, לאסון. אתם הייתם שם והוכחתם שאתם חברות אמיתיות. כך הרגשנו לאורך כל הימים בהם לחמנו יחד באש. תודה והערכה בשמי, בשם חיל האוויר ובשם כל מדינת ישראל". |
