June 2, 2011 The 4th Annual Ground Forces Race was held today, 2.6.11, at the Officer's Training School in Mizpe Ramon, southern Israel. Over 10,000 soldiers of different ranks participated in the race, which is one of the largest military races in the world. Participants had a choice of partaking in either a 10 km competitive run, or 3,6 and 10 km non-competitive runs. As part of the IDF's dedication to promoting a healthy lifestyle among its soldiers, a variety of sporting events, classes and courses are offered to different units. Investment in physical fitness helps improve soldier's performances in all fields, and benefits both the soldier personally as well as the IDF in general. At the end of the race, the Ground Forces Commander, Major General Sami Turgeman, awarded trophies to the units that won the competition. Pictured here: The winner of the 10 km run. מרוץ זרוע היבשה הרביעי התקיים היום (ה'), בבית הספר לקצינים (בה"ד 1) שבמצפה רמון, במעמד מפקד הזרוע, אלוף שלמה (סמי) תורג'מן, למעלה מ-10,000 חיילים, קצינים ונגדים מכלל יחידות צה"ל לקחו חלק במרוץ הנחשב לשני בגודלו בארץ ואחד המרוצים הצבאיים הגדולים בעולם. המשתתפים לקחו חלק בארבעה מקצים; אחד תחרותי באורך 10 ק"מ וכן בנוסף, לראשונה, שלושה מקצים עממיים באורך 3, 6 ו-10 ק"מ. כחלק מהמודעות הגוברת לאורח חיים בריא בצה"ל, נערכות מגוון תחרויות וריצות עממיות, הדרכות וסדנאות בריאות וכושר, קבוצות ריצה שחיה ועוד. פיתוח הכושר הגופני בקרב חיילי ומפקדי צה"ל מביא לידי שיפור ביכולותיהם האישיות וכן בצד הרווח האישי לפרט ישנה תועלת לכלל המערכת הצה"לית. בתום המרוץ התקיים טקס בו העניק מפקד הזרוע גביעים ליחידות אשר זכו במרוץ. |
