U.S. Army Sgt. Tiffany Dalagelis, Provincial Reconstruction Team Farah civil affairs member, smells some mint leaves given to her by locals after a meeting with the Kineske Council about the completion of a canal project in Kineske, Afghanistan, April 8. Members from the PRT met with leadership from Kineske to visit the canal where local Afghans completed a self-sustained cleaning project aimed at improving agricultural development of the area. The project was financially funded by the PRT, but labor and security was supported by the locals orchestrating the project, eliminating the need for further costs typically need for contractors and allowing Afghans to run reconstruction projects under their own discretion with minimal influence from coalition forces.
