An Afghan worker catches a brick to be laid into a foundation wall, which will store the bazaars' future rehabilitation supplies in Now Zad, June 7. Many buildings in the bazaar have been damaged due to years of violence and neglect. The civil affairs Marines are working alongside the Afghans to clean up the bazaar. The start of the Now Zad District Bazaar Rehabilitation Project, which will be overseen by the United States Agency for International Development, will begin directly after the bazaar has been cleaned up. The laborers are working diligently to meet the 13-day deadline beginning, June 7, to clean the bazaar of unwanted scrap metal and trash before the four-month rehabilitation project begins.
