Al-Qalqashandi said: "The emblem of this sultan is red roses on a white ground." meaning in a white patch

Ibn Fadlallah said, explaining the number of roses: "I saw the Yemeni sanjak raised on Arafat in the year 738 AH, and it was white and had five red roses in it."

Sanjak: a Turkish word meaning flag or banner.

The five roses symbolize the five pillars of Islam.
