Description
Deutsch: Ein Brandungswall entsteht typischerweise an Flachküsten, im Bereich der Hochwasserlinie, dort wo in etwa die täglich zweimal stattfindende Flut reicht.

Die Wellen häufen dort Material an, das sie bei ihrem Rückstrom nicht mehr mitnehmen. Dadurch entsteht eine leichte Erhörung.

Man erkennt den Strandwall im Bild hier daran, dass die Wellen bergauf zu laufen scheinen. Rechts von dieser Erhöhung geht es wieder abwärts. Diese Vertiefung ist die sogenannte Strandrinne.

Hinter dem Strandwall, Richtung festes Land, schließt sich oft die Strandrinne an. Dort können dann mitunter auch gefährliche Strömungen entstehen.
