Description
English: Five fragments of Shell tempered ware, probably part of Early Medieval Sandy Shelly ware series (EMSS), AD.1000-1250. All five fragments are handmade coarse wares with shell tempering, they are all fragments of rim from different vessels. Three of the rims are a mix of oxidised red with patched of reduced grey on the surface and are reduced grey in section. Two are reduced wares, near black in colour, one has dense amounts of shell tempering present.
