English: Five Pits Trail The photograph shows the most northerly entrance into the Locko Plantation from the Five Pits Trail. Off the right of the picture is the 339849 that leads a diversion of the trail through a small copse.
The Locko Plantation is a mixed woodland of mainly Lodgepole Pine, Larch, Sweet Chestnut and Oak. It is home to a variety of woodland birds. These include Goldcrest, Siskin, Linnet, Sparrowhawk and occasionally, Long-eared Owl. Woodland management has been taking place in the plantation since 1998, when the woodland was opened up to the public.
