Summary
[edit]DescriptionFive Barrow Hill in the parish of Tyneham - geograph.org.uk - 384779.jpg |
English: Five Barrow Hill in the parish of Tyneham These two barrows form part of 5 Barrow Hill, just off the B3070. These would be open access land, but the army are currently occupying the site - they took over Tyneham at the start of the second world war. When it ends, they have promised to return it. Until then we will have to look from the roadside when it is open. The left hand barrow is (according to Explorer maps) on the border of the grid square, whilst the right hand one is in the square proper. The fences are to keep out tanks from this sensitive area. |
