English: First in, last out Well, that's exactly how it works! They load the nearside first, but when you get to the other side they offload the offside first so that they can reload the oncoming cars while you are still alighting.
This is the Sandbanks to Shell Bay ferry (run by the Bournemouth-Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company), and as you see I was indeed first in and last out. Just to the right of the yacht, you can see the reflection of three £1 coins which are on my dashboard ready to pay the toll the other side. |
