Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Ex-First Glasgow bus 31412 (reg. L201 UNS), a 1993 Leyland Olympian double-decker with Alexander RL bodywork, pictured at the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust's premises, having been bought for preservation two months previously. Delivered new to First Glasgow's predecessor Strathclyde Buses as their fleet no. LO100, it spent its entire working life in Glasgow. It was preserved by the GVVT as it's believed to be the last Leyland bus to enter service in the UK (others were exported), after Volvo shut down the Workington factory as it completed Leyland Olympian orders (the 'Volvo Olympian' continued production elsewhere). LO101 was the last of an order of 52, replacing 60 buses destroyed by fire at the Larkfield depot in 1992. They were built to the RL low height specification, as they were to be used on services 66/A/B, which passes under two railway bridges. It will eventually be restored to original Strathclyde orange & black.
