Raising himself presently upon his knees, hegave thanks to God that it had pleased his diuine maiestie to reseruevnto that day the victorie and prayse of so great a thing vnto him.An ecstacy of delight, of triumph and devotion possessed him. Withone hand he beckoned his followers to come to him ; with the otherhe pointed wildly seaward, shewing them the great maine sea here-tofore vnknowne to the inhabitants of Europe, Aphrike, and Asia.
