Title
First (1891-1894) Home of Seattle Public Library, shown here between 1905 and 1910
Description

Transcribed from photograph: "Public Library. First home of Seattle Public Library. Occidental block (Collins block). Front St., James St., and Yesler Ave. Built 1890."

The building known in the long run as the Collins Block is the one peeking out from behind the hotel at left. But the hotel building was, indeed, also erected by Collins, and was also known as the Occidental Building (and possibly at first the Collins Block).

This image has to be between 1905 and 1910, because the Seattle City Light Yesler Substation has been built, but the Old Public Safety Building has not.
