Period of Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar, AH 1264/1847-8 AD Persian manuscript on paper, 10ll. of nasta'liq within gold clouds, the margins with gold and polychrome floral meander, with the seal impression of Nasir al-Din Shah above, slight smudging, backed onto cloth Firman 28in. (71cm.) long This firman concerns the appointment of Hasan 'Ali Garrus as sarhang (major). He was sent to Prince Hisam Saltaneh to Mashhad to quell the uprising of Salor and was later appointed ambassador to Paris.
