Summary
[edit]DescriptionFirestop mortar h2o ratio test 1 of 3.jpg | Firestop mortar being tested in Tulsa, Oklahoma in a 6" thick concrete wall, to see the effect of using different H2O:powder mix ratios on the same firestop. The test also confirmed that the mortar can be re-entered and re-sealed with the same firestop mortar. The test also demonstrated the effect of thermal shock on materials of different density while in contact with one another. The three hour fire endurance test was followed by a 30 PSI hose stream test for several minutes. A steel sleeve was used to narrow an opening. It was grouted in with firestop mortar. Then the inside of the steel sleeve was penetrated by a mineral foam insulated pipe and then sealed inside the sleeve with more firestop mortar. The hose stream test dislodged the interior mortar but 2" of the plug remained. The test passed. |
