Description

New Orleans fire station, 2008.

The majority of the city's fire stations were badly damaged or ruined in Hurricane Katrina and the associated Federal levee failure disaster in 2005.

Not one firehouse has been renovated as of March 19, 2008. Firefighters instead work from a FEMA trailer while fundraising to begin working on the houses themselves.
