English: Finches bus T189 (reg. CUL 189V), a 1980 Leyland Titan (B15), pictured in Water Street, Liverpool, on a school service.
The 219th production Titan, it's from the early batch built by the British Leyland subsidiary Park Royal Vehicles in Park Royal, London (later ones were built at Leyland's expanded factory in the Lillyhall Industrial Estate, Workington). As with the vast majority of production, it was delivered new to London Transport as part of the dual-door T-class, allocated fleet number T189. As part of the privatisation process it passed into the fleet of Stagecoach Selkent. It's London service was finally ended when in August 1995 it was transferred to Stagecoach's West Scotland operations, first with A1 Service and latterly Western Scottish, being renumbered 934. In August 2001 it was bought by McColls of Balloch, who re-registered it as TXI 3769 in March 2003. Finches bought it in October 2003, returning it to its original registration. At some point between its service with Stagecoach Western and Finches, it had its centre door removed. It's pictured here still with its Leyland L radiator badge, which only appeared on early Titans, being superceded by a stylised Leyland lettered version on later buses. In September 2011 it was broken up for spares. |
