Summary
[edit]DescriptionFilming in Finsbury Square - geograph.org.uk - 1872422.jpg |
English: A film crew filming in Finsbury Square, London. The bus is part of the set. It belongs to Sullivan Buses, whose vehicles seem to regularly appear on TV, notably in the soap opera Eastenders, as well as being used in ordinary service. This one is No. DN2, a 2002 10.5m Dennis Dart SLF with Caetano Nimbus bodywork, which was ordered as a one off, delivered from new with the vanity plate DN02 SUL. The destination display of route 66 to Wembley is entirely fictional, the real London Buses route 66 going nowhere near to Finsbury Square or Wembley, instead serving east London since the 1950s, and never having been operated by Sullivans (although the real 66 has its own history of a variety of post-privatisation new-entrant operators like Sullivans). A nearby bus shelter had been altered to display an advert with a glass of lager superimposed over the cross of St. George, and the wording '66 Beer Drink to Victory', suggesting it was part of an advert campaign seeking to link England's 1966 World Cup win with their trip to the upcoming 2010 World Cup, not unlike the sort of campaign conducted by Wells & Young for their Bombardier beer, although it could easily have been a spoof advert being filmed by students, which is what the original photographer speculates in this blog entry. |
