This image is excerpted from a U.S. GAO report:www.gao.gov/products/GAO-12-627 NATIONAL MEDICAID AUDIT PROGRAM: CMS Should Improve Reporting and Focus on Audit Collaboration with States Notes: Test audits were conducted from 2007 through 2010. Medicaid Statistical Information System (MSIS) audits began in 2008 and are ongoing. Collaborative audits began in 2010 as part of the redesign of the NMAP and are also ongoing. Dollar amounts shown are potential overpayments in final audit reports sent to states for recovery. They do not reflect the amounts in draft audit reports or the amounts actually recovered by the states. Percentages may not total 100 because of rounding. |
