Antibiotics: FDA Needs to Do More to Ensure That Drug Labels Contain Up-to-Date Information

[The FDA is required to identify, update, and make publicly available up-to-date antibiotic "breakpoints", which are included on the antibiotic's label. Breakpoints reflect the concentrations at which bacteria are categorized as susceptible to treatment with a given antibiotic. Out-of-date breakpoints on antibiotic labels can result in providers unknowingly selecting ineffective antibiotic treatments, which can contribute to additional bacterial resistance to antibiotics.]
