But as this law protects only immigrantgirls, all the cases brought have been in theinterest of these foreign girls. Thus far noone has undertaken to prosecute the offendersagainst American-born girls. When the cur-tain is drawn back upon the iniquitous systemin which they have been the victims, a newchamber of horrors will be opened to the pub-lic gaze. But, thank God, good will follow, asis always the case when the light is turned on.Already laws have been presented before anumber of state legislatures looking to theprosecution of those guilty of this inhumantraffic in native-born girls, and it will not belong before every state in the Union will havelaws under which they can prosecute any manor woman guilty of this crime. mOne of the great troubles in righting this evil
