La Exposición agrícola e industrial de 1892, "La Fiesta de las Flores" constituyó la más notable feria en la que estuvieron representados todos los municipios de la isla de Gran Canaria, un escaparate donde mostrar la diversidad de productos agrícolas, ganaderos y artesanales que los distintos municipios producían. Se celebró en la ciudad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria en 1892. La inauguración oficial fue en la Plaza de Cairasco, el día 23 de abril y se clausuró el día 1 de mayo. Los pabellones expositivos estaban distribuidos entre la Plaza de Cairasco, Alameda de Colón y Plazoleta de Hurtado Mendoza. Concebida por Alfred L. Jones y coordinada con los Ayuntamientos de la isla por su representante en Gran Canaria el sr. Doorly, la Exposición "Fiesta de las Flores" tuvo por objetivo llamar la atención del comecio internacional sobre las posibilidades que ofrecía Gran Canaria como puente entre continentes donde hacer negocio. |
