Fields in total internal reflection

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Incident angle exceeds the critical angle and at the first interface light experiences total internal reflection.

Exponentially decaying evanecent wave is observed at the other side of the interface.
TM-polarization: Tangential and normal component of the fields are offset for clarity.
TE- polarization: Feld has only the tangential component.
Note that the tangential field is continuous and normal field has a discontinuity. This is inline with the boundary conditions.
Parameters:
Refractive indices: n_incident=1.45; n_substrate=1.0;
Wavelength=632 nm; Angle of incidence=45.0 deg.; Critical angle=43.6 deg.;

Model and animation was generated with Matlab.
