| Description |
English: Fields and downs near Stockton This view looking east is of the fields and downs on the south side of the gentle valley of the river Wylye. The river is hidden behind the thick belt of trees on the left side of the picture. A restricted byway runs alongside the line of trees that crosses left to right, and on the right, the chalk down with the clumps of trees is called Long Hall Hanging. The streak of white in a line of trees to the left of centre is a two coach train on an embankment heading east along the valley to Salisbury. |
