NSF’s Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA) staff and staff from the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee’s Subcommittee on Research and Technology visited the National Ecological Observatory, or NEON, research site in Front Royal, Virginia, in August 2015. When it’s completed, NEON will be a continental-scale research platform for long-term study of the impacts of climate change, land-use change and invasive species on ecological systems. The Front Royal site is in NEON’s mid-Atlantic region. NEON has 20 regions, or domains. Data collected on stream health and land use are made available for public access online.
