Breaking a petiole to see sap color as bright white identifies a Norway Maple.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: I fight invasive land plants. To determine if a Maple tree, Acer spp., is a prohibited Norway Maple, Acer platanoides, I field test the sap. Clear sap indicates a native or naturalized Maple, thick white sap indicates that it is the invasive.
