Summary

[edit]
Description

Western cars were only available in the GDR through GENEX (gift service and Kleinexporte GmbH) and had to be paid with foreign currency. Only very few Fiat 500s came to the GDR in this way. Another problem was the supply of spare parts, which is why improvisation was often carried out to keep the cars running. Exactly this improvisation is often seen in East German cars.
